A year in review: GRIDSERVE ends record-breaking 2023 on a high

It’s been a record year at GRIDSERVE, with more chargers installed and more electric cars charged than ever before.

In 2023, we delivered over 1.9 million charging sessions, which helped power over 160 million zero emission miles. That’s the equivalent of saving 44,000 tonnes of CO2 compared to petrol or diesel miles.

In total, we’ve added more than 300 charging bays across our Electric Super Hubs and Electric Retail Hubs – triple the amount installed in the previous year. In fact, December broke all previous records with more charging bays opened in a single month than the whole of 2022.

The end of 2023 also saw London Gatwick Electric Forecourt® open with 30 charging bays available for customers. In 2024, the retail building at Gatwick will open with construction already underway at the next Electric Forecourt® in Stevenage – close to the famous Knebworth Estate.

It means the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway now has over 1,200 charging bays in operation and as EV uptake and charger demand increases, we’re now recording over 180,000 charging sessions every month.

Our most popular location was Moto Rugby – an Electric Super Hub with 12 High Power chargers capable of up to 350kW located at junction 1 of the M6.

Across the whole network, Fridays are the most popular time to charge as people head away for long weekends, while August was the most popular month for our chargers with summer holiday season well underway.
