Fulham FC signs up to the GRIDSERVE Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme

The 2023/24 football season has seen Fulham FC kick off its electric vehicle (EV) journey alongside its official EV partner, GRIDSERVE, with a fleet of Tesla Model Ys and EV chargers installed at the training ground.

As part of the club’s wider sustainability agenda, and to help staff and players go green as well, the club has also signed up to the GRIDSERVE Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme.

The scheme allows Fulham FC employees to lease a brand new electric car, with savings of up to 40%. Included in one single monthly payment is the chosen model, along with insurance, maintenance (including servicing and tyres), breakdown and charging for three months on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway.

Josh Lambdon, Partnership Acquisition Manager at Fulham FC, was one of the first employees to sign up to the scheme.

He said: “Salary sacrifice was really important to helping make my decision to switch to electric. The biggest benefit to me was having everything in one place.”

The club has been particularly impressed with the simplicity of setting the scheme up, as well as the support provided by the GRIDSERVE team.

Jon Don-Carolis, Commercial Director at Fulham FC, said: “From the first moment we met the guys from GRIDSERVE, we were blown away by how passionate, how friendly and how open and inclusive they were with their product. It’s been absolutely seamless and very easy to activate.”

Josh added: “It was really easy to sign up and get my car and really easy to use the GRIDSERVE portal. It was great to have Joe, our salary sacrifice guru, at the end of the phone for everything we needed.”

Electric cars are a perfect match for Fulham FC, with both the training ground and Craven Cottage in London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

And having GRIDSERVE chargers installed at the club’s Motspur Park training ground has helped drive take up even further, with staff and players (Raúl Jiménez owns a BMW iX) able to plug in while they’re at work.

This combination is complementing Fulham FC’s other decarbonisation projects such as sourcing renewable energy, removing single use plastics and providing vegan food at the stadium.

Jon concluded: “It’s a tremendous benefit for us all here at Fulham FC. We’re constantly looking at decarbonisation initiatives that we can immerse ourselves in as a football club. Salary sacrifice is also a great way of bringing staff through on the club’s journey.”
