Visitors at Slough Retail Park will now be able to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) as they shop with the opening of a new GRIDSERVE Electric Retail Hub. Located on Bath Road and close to the M4, the new charging location is perfect for those shopping at the retail park as well as those driving through the area.

The Electric Retail Hub has eight charging bays served by four dual charging Medium Power (up to 120kW) units. To make it as easy as possible for customers to charge their EVs, the GRIDSERVE Electric Retail Hub has both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, accepts contactless payment and provides real-time status updates to a myriad of popular EV charging maps.

Electric Retail Hubs are a vital solution to support the growing number of electric vehicles on the roads. A million EVs have now been sold in the UK, showing the need for widespread reliable charging. For GRIDSERVE, Electric Retail Hubs work alongside Electric Super Hubs, for those who need High Power charging on the UK’s motorways as well as Electric Forecourts®, which offer an EV experience for the local community.

Slough Retail Park is owned by Orchard Street on behalf of its client.

Rebecca Trebble, Chief Customer Experience Officer, said: “It is great to be able to offer reliable and easy electric vehicle charging to the visitors of the Slough Retail Park, where we are committed to delivering an excellent charging experience to all users. We look forward to opening more Electric Retail Hubs to support the transition to net zero transportation soon.”

Ed Bales, Asset Manager at Orchard Street, said: “Installing electric vehicle charging points at Slough Retail Park further broadens the scheme’s vibrant offering to local customers, whilst encouraging sustainable travel for those who visit or work at our assets. These are the first rapid charging bays to open within our retail park portfolio and this project aligns well with our broader responsible investment approach and our emphasis on utilising our asset management expertise to upgrade existing assets in line with best-practice sustainability considerations. We have built up a strong relationship with Gridserve and look forward to working with them on a number of other future projects.”

GRIDSERVE’s Electric Highway now has over 175 locations with over 1,200 charging bays, including the newly opened London Gatwick Electric Forecourt®.
